Bringing in the New Year

Updated: Jan 6, 2022

2022...

What story are you going to write this year? Are you going to write a best seller where the protagonist faces huge challenges and survives and even, thrives? Are you going to build an awesome business model? Are you going to find a way to reach that sector of the market that has been just out of reach of your marketing plan for so long?

Some may want to consider the new year with some scepticism; after all, if we look at the last two years, it would seem a healthy dose of scepticism should be necessary in our toolbox of coping mechanisms. Therein lies the fallacy! It's a New Year - a new opportunity to restart, reboot and REVISIT old habits, old concepts and old ideas.

What do I want more of? How do words bring you what you want? What do I need to start doing? Do you want a quick sale, or a long term relationship with your clients?

For me: Initially, easy answers forge to my consciousness, and the less obvious but just as adamant solutions race to get to the front of my mind. Ok, usual suspects - eat better, exercise more, spend more quality time with friends and family and get a comedy set together - yes, that's been on the last three to five years' New Year Resolution lists - amazing how ambitious they can be!

So, where to from here? Writing, my first love, features front and centre in my future. I can tell you that building a great network of Native English speaking translations, copywriting, editing, ghostwriting, public speaking and public relations clients is already in motion.

I am inspired to make a difference in the world of animal advocacy. I am not sure in what capacity I would do this but volunteering at a shelter, fostering shelter cats or dogs, adopting another rescue - time-consuming but necessary to find balance.

It seems the Olympiads of success achieve a work/life balance. That is a spectacular reward for intelligent time management. Yes, that's what I aspire to become - A Mistress of Time. Right now, I am the Queen of Procrastination (which is misleading as I achieve monumental amounts of completed tasks. It just so happens they have nothing to do with my Task Lists. Oh well, you never know when you might need a box fort for your cats or a colour coordinated wardrobe and drawers. Oh! And Shoes, you must sort shoes according to heights, colours and function! So it's not really procrastinating if you achieve something? Or is it??

Peace. Out.

Taly Gee.
